Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

It’s release day and we’re busy as hell. We have 100 elves packaging and sending out every single download at iTunes, Amazon, GetBusyCommittee.com, etc. It’s a lot of bit-manipulation but it’s worth doing because it’s important work. It could save the world, and we know this, so we will keep shipping music until everyone is happy.

GBCiTunes

Today is the day, Get Busy Committee’s Uzi Does It is available at fine retailers everywhere. You can buy from iTunes around the world, plus Amazon, Rhapsody, Lala, Emusic, Zune, 7Digital, Nokia Music, Puretracks, HMV, Spotify, and on and on.

Go to where ever you usually buy music and take a look. Let us know if you don’t find it!

Please do us a favor and go to your favorite retailer and write a glowing review, telling all their customers how much you love the album. Something like:

Thank you Get Busy Committee. Thank you for having fun with the beats, and for rhymes that aren’t your standard fare. For being clever and funny but still being such damn talented MCs. Thank you for the variety. Thank you for not having any lame skits. Thank you for making every track count. Thanks for having subject matter that’s hard and not some emo nonsense. Thanks for not taking yourselves too seriously. Thanks for stopping short of making it a joke. Thanks for making my favorite hip hop record of 2009.

Let’s see how many iTunes reviews we can have by morning.

Don’t forget you can always buy the album in special formats right from this site, GetBusyCommittee.com. Currently we’re offering a 2GB Uzi-shaped USB flash drive and a limited edition True Love & False Idols t-shirt along with a CD-quality digital version of the album.

Get Busy Committee Uzi Does It Release Party Flyer

So our friends True Love & False Idols are throwing us a little party on Tuesday night. DJ Cheapshot is going to do his thing, we’ll play Uzi Does It, and generally rub elbows with superstars like Kim Kardashian, Byron Allen, Wee Man, and Grand Daddy IU.

While we wish we could invite every single one of you, and fly you in from all corners of the world, it’s a private party with very limited space and the ABC won’t let us post any details publicly. Keep an eye out for your invite and if you Monday you think you’ve been left off by mistake give us a shout on Twitter and if that’s true we’ll sort you out.

Regardless we invite you to host your own Get Busy Committee release party where ever you are on Tuesday. Here’s how you do it:

1) Grab a couple DJ Cheapshot mix CDs
2) Buy a copy of Uzi Does It from GetBusyCommittee.com
3) Invite all your friends over
4) Have a few drinks
5) Play the Cheapshot mix followed by Uzi Does It followed by another Cheapshot mix CD followed by Uzi Does It again
6) Call your local radio station and ask them when they’re playing Get Busy Committee next
7) Flip through a copy of US Weekly to see some stars
8 ) Head up the street for the after party
9) Post photos of your Uzi Does It Party to Facebook, Flickr, or MySpace and send us the link

Love from KROQ in Los Angeles

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

Wow. KROQ showed love for their LA brethren tonight when they took a chance on a new group called Get Busy Committee

They played “I Don’t Care About You” around 7:30pm…

Half an hour later, DJ Nicole Alvarez said the phones were going off for GBC…

Shortly after that, Nicole tweet’d saying the track was getting enough calls to possibly make the Furious 5 at 9!

@Nicole1067

“I Don’t Care About You” entered the Furious 5 at 9 at #5, getting played alongside some real rock stars. Nicole hyped the track and even complimented the album cover!

Not bad for a self-released group from LA.

If you think KROQ should play more Get Busy Committee, feel free to hit up their request page here, or use your phone and hit up their request line.

To download your copy of “I Don’t Care About You” visit our store page and either buy the album (thanks for the support, since we’re self-released the $$ goes straight to the group, no middle man) or get your free copy by sharing on MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter.

Good lookin’,

Get Busy Committee's "My Little Razorblade" #1 on Hype Machine's Twitter Chart

Thanks to everyone who has been tweeting our “My Little Razorblade” over at Hype Machine. We couldn’t believe it when we were #10 on their “what’s hot on Twitter” chart on Monday, then later in the day we climbed to #3, and the next morning we woke up to find ourselves at #1. Thanks for all the love and support.

Click here to tweet and keep us on the chart!

Thanks again,

Get Busy Committee - Uzi Does It

At long last, Get Busy Committee’s debut record is available for download right from this Web site. Just click here and you have a few options on how to pick up the record:

If you’re not yet sure that Get Busy Committee is your favorite group, no worries, we’ll hook you up with a taste for free (a little trick we learned from another business). All you have to do is post the streaming player to your blog or MySpace page, email to friends, share on Facebook, or share on Twitter and we’ll send you a link to download half the record for free.

If you’re looking for the ultra-collectible version of the record, buy the USB Uzi. It’s a functional 2GB Uzi-shaped USB flash drive. It even comes with a keychain so you can carry it everywhere. When people ask where you got it, be sure to tell ‘em GETBUSYCOMMITTEE.COM!

Maybe you’re one of those people who are always saying, “Man, I still buy CDs. I like putting them on my shelf,” then pick up the CD. It’s cheap for a limited time only. And when you buy it, you can download the digital version immediately.

If you’re just looking to put the Get Busy Committee album on your iPod real quick, grab the digital download. Note you can choose FLAC or Apple Lossless if you want full CD quality. Throw the Apple Lossless version on your iPod and TURN YOUR HEADPHONES LOUD. Should sound perfect.

Please tell a friend. Your help spreading the word is sincerely appreciated.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reseda, CA (October 15th, 2009) – In an unprecedented deal where 100% of the royalties go to the artist, hip hop group Get Busy Committee have signed with Tokyo Sex Whale Records.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add Get Busy Committee to our roster,” said Tokyo Sex Whale Records Co-President, Ryu, “their inimitable flow and hard yet danceable beats are exactly what we’re looking to bring to today’s youth.” The label’s Co-President, Apathy, added, “the array of products Get Busy Committee want to offer, USB Uzis, MINDstyle toys, and skateboards, was also exciting to us as new, enterprising label.”

Get Busy Committee member Apathy went on to say, “I wasn’t interested in a fucking record deal but these Tokyo Sex Whale dudes really seem to know what they’re doing. I felt like I knew them as soon as I met them. They just made me feel at home, if you know what I mean.” Get Busy Committee’s second half, Ryu, went on to say, “Then when they offered to pay us 100%, everything, we signed right away. It’s the best record deal I’ve ever heard of.”

Get Busy Committee’s debut album, Uzi Does It, comes out on Tokyo Sex Whale Records soon. The album will be available in Uzi USB, CD, and digital format at GetBusyCommittee.com on October 27th, and via iTunes, Amazon, etc on November 10th.

Introducing… The Get Busy Committee

Get Busy Committee
Uzi Does It
Available worldwide November 10th on Tokyo Sex Whale Records

Hi, my name’s Dutch.  Great to meet you.  Thanks for coming by the open house.  Try one of the turkey sandies.  The sun-dried tomato gives them some bite, but they’re still light and won’t ruin your dinner.  Plus, the whole wheat bread is a complete protein.

I know you’re here to check out this six bedroom remodel in Thousand Oaks, priced to move, but I’d like to ask you a question first: Do you like music?  I knew you did.  Who doesn’t?  Well when I’m not moving high-end property in the San Fernando Valley I manage the most talented group of MCs and producers on Planet Earth who just happen to have made what some have called “the rap record of the year”, entitled Uzi Does It.

The group is Get Busy Committee and features names you may have heard before: Ryu (Styles of Beyond, Demigodz) and Apathy (Demigodz, Army of the Pharaohs).  Tracks are produced by Apathy as well as super-producer Scoop Deville, known for his work recently with Snoop Dogg, The Game, Clipse, and many others, all of whom said they would try to stop by this open house today in the mood to buy (but I don’t want to pressure you, take your time).  Scoop also lends his signature vocal swagger to many of the tracks on the album.

The album is being released on their very own record label, Tokyo Sex Whale Records.  Ryu was once signed to Warner Brothers and Apathy to Atlantic.  No offense to the A&R rep who thinks phrases like, “I think you should work on your skateboard skills” or “you should go to the gym so you can take your shirt off on stage” is career advice, but Get Busy Committee decided to eschew label interest this time around and go their own route.  ”We can fuck it up ourselves, thanks,” they were heard to say.  Uzi Does It is a 100% self-funded, self-released independent record.

While you’ll definitely find this record in iTunes, Amazon, and even your local indie CD store, you’ll also find it in some non-traditional places and formats.  Purchasers of a beautiful True Love and False Idols t-shirt will find a code to download a copy of the record attached to their shirts and you’ll be able to buy special versions of the album from GetBusyCommittee.com.  One such version will be on a USB stick in the shape of an Uzi open bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun.  Uzi Does It, indeed.

This record is unlike any rap album you’ve heard before.  I’m sorry if you were expecting some of the boring two-sample verse/chorus nonsense hip hop has descended into, but you won’t find that here.  This album is full of songs and songwriting, heartfelt stories of life in LA, a life of music, late nights on the Sunset Strip, and coke.  In short, a life similar to mine.  As Apathy says in Coolin’ Out, “I used to love Easy-E, BBD, BDP, so I mixed it all up what you get? GBC.”

But don’t take our word for it.  In this day and age you certainly don’t need to listen to anyone talk about music, you can check it out for yourself.  Head on over to GetBusyCommittee.com and download a few songs for free, or purchase one of the limited edition albums which come with either a fashion-show quality True Love and False Idols t-shirt.  Just think of how the mini-figure would look on the mantle here when you have your first key party.  You’re new to the area?  Not to worry, I can bring a few friends to prime the pump, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.  I’ll let you have a look around.  Please don’t forget to leave your name and email on the sign in sheet.
